    Once you’ve made the decision to ride, start with this Tennessee Motorcycle Safety Foundation certified course!

    This intensive two-day course includes an online e-course that must be completed prior to the start of the class, classroom instruction and practical riding practice in a controlled, off-street environment. You are not required to have a license or proof of insurance for this class. You must be able to demonstrate balance (being able to ride a bicycle or dirt bike). 

    Participants who satisfactorily complete a motorcycle safety course will be issued a Motorcycle Safety Foundation® completion card, which can help reduce insurance costs. License waiver courses may exempt participants from the state’s required written and riding test when applying for a motorcycle license. 

    • Motorcycles are provided. A scooter may be requested in advance on a first-come basis. 
    • Classes are limited to 12 participants.
    • Participants must be age 15 or older. Those under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian present at the first day of class to sign a release form to take the class.

    The course is held at the Pellissippi State Hardin Valley Campus. The outdoor riding portion of the courses will be conducted, rain or shine.


    Attire & Safety Equipment:
    You will need to provide and wear all required attire and safety equipment:

    • A TDOT-approved motorcycle helment. Helmets without a face shield will require you to also provide eye protection. If you prefer you can bring your own helmet.
    • Full gloves (must completely cover the fingers and palms)
    • Long sleeved shirt or jacket
    • Long pants (jeans, leather or other heavy material)
    • Over the ankle leather footwear (with low heels and no thick toes)
    • Rain gear (if needed)

    Failure to meet appropriate safety equipment requirements for the class may result in forfeiture of registration and incur a rescheduling fee.

    Online E-Course 
    All participants must complete an online e-course prior to the start of the in-person class. The e-course takes approximately five hours to complete. Successful completion of both the e-course and classroom training is required to receiving a passing grade from the class. You will receive an email with the link to begin the e-course one week prior to the start of your class. If you do not have access to a computer or internet to complete the e-course prior to the class, please let the Workforce & Community Development office know at 865-539-7167 or wcd@pstcc.edu at least two days in advance.

    Cancellations & Rescheduling  
    Cancellations or rescheduling for motorcycle safety courses must be made seven days prior to the start of the course. Cancellations and reschedule requests less than seven days before the start of the class will forfeit the full course registration fee of the class. Rescheduling requests less than seven days before the start of the class will also incur an additional $150 rescheduling fee. Please be aware that if you cancel or reschedule before the seven-day deadline, but after you begin the e-course, you will forfeit the $39.99 portion of your registration fee for the e-course.     Once you’ve made the decision to ride, start with this Tennessee Motorcycle Safety Foundation certified course!

    This intensive two-day course includes an online e-course that must be completed prior to the start of the class, classroom instruction and practical riding practice in a controlled, off-street environment. You are not required to have a license or proof of insurance for this class. You must be able to demonstrate balance (being able to ride a bicycle or dirt bike). 

    Participants who satisfactorily complete a motorcycle safety course will be issued a Motorcycle Safety Foundation® completion card, which can help reduce insurance costs. License waiver courses may exempt participants from the state’s required written and riding test when applying for a motorcycle license. 

    • Motorcycles are provided. A scooter may be requested in advance on a first-come basis. 
    • Classes are limited to 12 participants.
    • Participants must be age 15 or older. Those under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian present at the first day of class to sign a release form to take the class.

    The course is held at the Pellissippi State Hardin Valley Campus. The outdoor riding portion of the courses will be conducted, rain or shine.
