    Begin your French language journey in this true beginner conversational class. Learn essential vocabulary, basic phrases, and foundational skills including the French alphabet, numbers, pronunciation, and simple sentence structure. You'll also explore traditions and cultures from French-speaking regions like France, Québec, Haiti, Sénégal, and Louisiana. No previous knowledge of French is required.

    Brush up on your French in this novice conversational class. Each week, learn new vocabulary and common phrases while practicing pronunciation and conversation skills. Explore traditions and cultures from French-speaking regions including France, Québec, Haiti, Sénégal, and Louisiana. One Saturday, join an optional guided tour at the Knoxville Museum of Art highlighting French influence on local and regional artists. Some prior exposure to French—alphabet, numbers, sentence structure, and pronunciation—is required; this class is not for true beginners.

    American Sign Language is the 4th most used language in the United States! Come get started learning this beautiful, expressive language that uses much of what you already know in English. This welcoming 10-week course is designed for absolute beginners with no prior ASL experience. Through hands-on practice and interactive activities, you'll learn fundamental vocabulary, basic grammar, and conversational skills while gaining an appreciation for Deaf culture and community. We will practice with each other and learn ways to have introductory conversations with members of the Deaf community. By the end of the course, you'll be able to introduce yourself, have a good ability to fingerspell, and have basic conversations with a foundation to further your mastery of ASL.

    Ready to take your signing to the next level? This 10-week intermediate course builds on ASL Level I, expanding vocabulary, refining grammar, and deepening conversational skills. Move beyond introductions to explore more complex topics and situations, improving both receptive (understanding) and expressive (producing) signing. Through partner dialogues, group discussions, and real-world scenarios, you’ll gain confidence, fluency, and a deeper understanding of Deaf culture while navigating longer, more nuanced conversations in ASL.
