Build on the foundational skills learned in Level 1 as you gain more confidence and control with MIG, TIG and Stick welding techniques. In this 30-hour class, you'll continue to develop safe welding habits while working on slightly more advanced projects that introduce new challenges in cutting, grinding and assembling metal. Explore design basics and begin to incorporate your own ideas into functional or decorative pieces. All equipment and safety gear are provided. Students must wear long sleeves, non-flammable fabrics, long pants and boots. Students must complete Beginner Hobby Welding Level 1 before taking this class.  

Continue to refine your skills jewelry wire wrapping, as you create earrings using hammering and other specialized techniques.

$20 materials fee payable to the instructor.

Now that you’ve learned the basics, this 2-part intermediate class will cover several new topics to expand your knowledge base as you create a larger project than in the beginner’s class. Learn to design a pattern, prepare your templates from that pattern, use Stained Glass Patina to “color” your solder joints after the project is soldered, and different methods to frame your piece. There will be plenty of time for general questions. Tools and supplies are provided, with discounted starter kits and tools available for purchase. Contact the Office of Workforce and Community Development for more details. Prior completion of the beginner class or basic stained-glass experience required.

Gain an introduction to wire wrapping in this new two-hour class with Zainab Ahmed! Discuss the types of tools and wire needed as you learn fundamental wire wrapping techniques used in making jewelry. Practice making simple and wrapped loops and connecting wrapped components together during the class as you work on creating a bracelet and set of earrings. All tools and supplies, including a selection of beads will be provided.

During this fun and informative class, you will get your hands on glass and learn the process of creating stained glass from start to finish, using the copper foil technique. You don’t need any experience, just enthusiasm, and a willingness to try something new. We supply everything you will need to create your project, and there will be numerous design patterns to choose from, and a selection of colored glass will be provided. We will teach you how to “cut” glass, apply the copper foil, and solder your piece together. By the end of the class you will have your very own creation completed and ready to take home, and you may have even found a new hobby.
